Nanakshahi Samvat 557 – 558 Pooranmashi 2026( ਪੂਰਨਮਾਸ਼ੀ ) Dates in 2026
Purnima marks the day of the month when the Full Moon occurs. It also divides the 2 Paksha of the Sikh Calendar. 15 days between Poornima and Amavas are known as Vadi (Krishna Paksha), and 15 Days between Amavas and Purnima are called Sudi (Shukla Paksha). 15th of Sudi (Shukla Paksha) marks the day of Poornmashi.
Pooranmashi Year 2026 (Poornima) / Poonam / Puranmasi / पूर्णिमा / ਪੂਰਨਮਾਸ਼ੀ
Pooranmashi (or Purnima/Poornamasi) is the Punjabi/Hindi term for the full moon day, a significant monthly lunar event in Indian cultures and religions, observed with special prayers, fasts, and charity, notably in Sikhism (Guru Nanak’s birthday) and Hinduism (e.g., Buddha Purnima, Sharad Purnima), though Sikhism emphasises actions over rituals.
In any normal Bikrami year, the lunar month of Jeth would look like this:
Jeth Vadi 1 to 15 (waning moon; full moon to new moon)
Jeth Sudi 1 to 15 (waxing moon; new moon to full moon)
There are two paksh’s in the month, 15 days each, making a 30-day lunar month.
