Sri Guru Ram Das Ji – Forth Sikh Guru, Achievements

Sri Guru Ram Das Ji was the fourth Sikh Guru and played a crucial role in the development of the Sikh religion. He was born on September 24, 1534, in Lahore, which is now in modern-day Pakistan. His parents, Hari Das and Anup Devi, were Hindus, and he was originally named Jetha.

Sri Guru Ram Das Ji’s spiritual journey began when he became a disciple of Sri Guru Amar Das Ji, the third Sikh Guru. He spent many years in service to his Guru and the Sikh community, and he eventually succeeded Guru Amar Das Ji as the fourth Sikh Guru in 1574.

Sri Guru Ram Das Ji is known for his contributions to the Sikh religion, which include the construction of the Harmandir Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple, in Amritsar. He believed that the Harmandir Sahib should be a place of worship for all, regardless of caste, religion, or social status. He also established the city of Ramdaspur, which is now known as Amritsar, and made it the center of Sikhism.

Sri Guru Ram Das Ji also emphasised the importance of seva, or selfless service, and believed that serving others was a crucial part of spiritual practice. He established langar, the community kitchen, and encouraged Sikhs to participate in selfless service to the community.
